Video card upgrade! EVGA GTX 980 SC w/ ACX 2.0

jlacy222

First off, the camera I used is from an iPod 5th Generation, it's fairly terrible.

I was lucky to snag this off of Newegg when it was in stock for a matter of minutes.

As for benchmarks, I was able to run last night which I don't have the exact numbers on hand at the moment, but I tested Bioshock infinite at a boost clock of 1466, I was able to achieve an average of 120 fps with everything maxed out @ 1080p.

I am aware that this a poor way to show the performance of the card with only one benchmark but I thought maybe someone would have found it interesting. For me at least, this was a huge improvement coming from someone who previously had a Gigabyte 7850 1GB GDDR5.

My current specifications are:

Motherboard:GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P AM3+/AM3 AMD 970
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera OC @ 4.4ghz Six Core 1.414 volts vcore
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8gb, 240-pin DDR3 1600
GPU: EVGA GTX 980 SC w/ ACX 2.0
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM
SSD: Kingston V300 120GB
PSU: XFX Pro 750W Xtr Gold Single Rail Full Modular 12V 70A 24PIN ATX PSU 80+ Gold Cert
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

If you have any questions feel free to post or PM me, and I'll add you on steam.
On a further note, If I remember I'll post my EVGA precision fan curve graph when I am home, and If you have your fan curve setup I would love to see it. I am still working with mine.

How about noise? There has been a lot of controversy about the 970 ACX being really loud, is it a case with the 980 as well or not?

With the fans at 40%, it is noticeable, but you can turn the fans off in some games and it will run about 75C which is fine, I'll post more later gotta step away for a few hours.

Doesen't fx 6300 bottleneck this card?..

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

Judge me for my nickname, my avatar and for the low amounts of posts I have. I will keep your heart beat raised.

Nope, from reviews I have seen, the difference is very minimal, a few frames.
