Reinstalling 8.1 Pro?

So I might be going to upgrade my motherboard (currently Gigabyte Z87-D3HP, doesn't change boot order, no SLI, etc.) and I heard that if Windows doesn't boot I will need to reinstall. To do this, do I have to disable the product key on my current motherboard? Or do I just reinstall from the install disk and it'll activate automatically?
