Networking Troubles...PLEASE HELP

OK, I already use a Pre-built Dell XPS 8300 and this is a wired/wireless network motherboard. I'm soon to get a MSI X99 Gaming 7 motherboard with killer networking and it has no wireless capabilities. Now yes most people would say that just plug a network cable in but, I CANT!!! I live in a semi-older house and I cant seem to find a Ethernet port anywhere in my room, i have a plug in that looks like one but a DSL cable doesn't fit, this is because i think its a phone connector but idk, i'm not real smart in that category of things. Since i have really only used wireless connections at my house, idk if my house has a wired network so is there some type of wireless adapter that i can use that isn't extremely expensive???

Do you have like $20? If you do, just purchase any of the hundreds of USB wifi dongles out there.
