Hey all, I'm looking for a bit of advice. Some people I know need an external hard drive that can work with wifi for backing stuff up from 2 PCs connected to the same network. I know there are some solutions that can do this, but I don't remember the names and maybe any of you guys have some experience with this sort of stuff.

Thanks you

oh and btw storage is not a priority, 1tb will be more than enough

BUILD A NAS,

but if you really dont want a nas then just get something liek this http://www.ebuyer.com/482599-seagate-1tb-wireless-plus-hard-drive-stck1000200

but a nas would be a much better option

I considered a NAS, but I know that there are a lot of options, and since amount of storage isn't a priority I thought about going with something like that link you posted.

Do you know a NAS that is cheap, compact enough and able to work with wifi? (idk if all of them are wifi, sorry if dumb question :P)

this one is simple, not too expesive (add you own hard drive) will let you upgrade if you ever need more storage, as for wifi just plug it into your router

Hey there Achus,

If your router allows it, you can always connect an external HDD to it and use it over the network for backups and other things (you will just see it as a folder in Windows Explorer).
In case you need something portable, I could suggest checking out WD My Passport Wireless as it has all hte features that you mentioned. It does come with 500GB, 1TB and 2TB storage space. Here's a link: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1330

Also, you could always put an additional drive in one of the computers (if you have the additional slot) and set it up as a shared folder across the network. :)

Hope this helps,

Captain_WD.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
