Hey, so my pc has been behaving pretty badly the last couple of weeks. First the graphics card driver crashed and gave me bluescreens, secondly my monitor died, but it is the third problem this thread is about, i wanted to start up my pc this morning and the screen stayed black, i've had this before so i rebooted but still nothing. So i checked the error code and it was 53, which stands for "incompatible memory type/speed". My mobo is the asus maximus VI Hero and the cpu is an I5 4670k, also the RAM (corsair vengeance pro) is overclocked to 1866 mhz. Does anybody know how to fix this problem because well, a computer that doesn't start up sucks.

Thanks

Try 1600mhz or 1333mhz. I am 2133 on an MPOWER Max z87 and its all fine for me.

the big problem is that i cant change it because there is nothing on the screen

Then its probably a coincidence and a monitor failure, try another display if available. I'll be gone now so my reply will or may be same time tomorrow.

thanks for replying, but the thing is, i know that this monitor works, i have tried it and tested it a few times

Try resetting the BIOS? Shut down the computer, turn off the PSU.

Then, open up your case, and remove the battery on your motherboard for like 5 mins to make sure BIOS settings have been reset.

Then, put the battery back on, turn on your PSU and try again?

i tried it but it is still giving the same error code.

Okay, i now have another question: the motherboard has a memok button, which autotunes the ram, but the instructions are pretty unclear on how to use it, does anyone know?

From what i know, it will put settings on your ram that should -in theory- make you able to boot with very safe settings.

Can't you just push it? I don't know how to use it so don't be brutal if you don't feel you can push it down.

i pushed it and it did the test, yay, but it still gives the error code for not compatible speeds/ram.

-edit-

I'll be away for about ten hours, so i won't be able to respond.

Maybe your memory slots died on your motherboard?

I'm out of ideas, never experienced this before but it's really strange.

I mean, with all my knowledge, i don't see how this is possible unless there's something in your motherboard if you are 100% sure your sticks are ok.

Well, test them in another computer if you have one handy that would support your sticks.

If it doesn't boot, your sticks are probably faulty, otherwise run a memtest on them to make sure there's no errors.

Otherwise, if they work perfectly, i really think it's your motherboard.

I just do my best to help you out buddy.

I just though about something else, i don't know if this could be the reason but maybe the memory controller on your CPU could be the problem? I'm not saying it is but i was thinking about it.

Are you doing any overclocking? Have you got good cooling? Good airflow in your case and such? Or did you manipulate your CPU and something went wrong?

Lots of questions i know lol. But hey we never know :D

Also, have a nice day buddy.

i hadn't thought of the memory controller on the cpu. I have overclocked the cpu a bit a few weeks ago, but not very hard and i only played WoW with it which isn't a very heavy game so it stayed at about 65 degrees. And further, what do you mean by manipulate, like de-lidding manipulating or something else?

Yeah something like that or just dropping it or whatever not good could happen to your CPU.

Do you use the stock cooler? 65°C is fine for an Intel chip i think, so i wouldn't worry too much about the temps (especially cores temps is the most important).

How much did you overclock it? Speed, and voltage is what i want to know mostly.

Did you try what i said above?

i tested the ram and it is not the problem, but is there a way to know if it is the cpu or the mobo? Also i didn't drop the cpu or something like that

Have you tried to manually place in the timings for the ram ?

as said before it gives the error code and there is nothing to see onscreen
