Pull out a spec!

Go to solution Solved by theKumba,

There you have it, but 64gigs of RAM are useless in most cases, so is X99 for gaming. It completly blew the budget and I wasn't able to fit a mic in there.

Hello, I'm trying to build a computer for my friend. Budget is around $3000.

Monitor is 1080p, does support 144hz.

For workstation/gaming, looking for long run. (about 3 years) that can handle new titles, 100+ fps at ultra.

I want it to be 6 cores, 16GB, does not have Windows so I want it to be Windows 8 that can handle 64 GB because we are gonna upgrade it later on.

Does not have Headphone and keyboard so you need to add that in price.

Machenical keyboard will be better (red keys)

Looking for amazing headphone, comfortable, surround sound and amazing sound quality.

He wants a microphone under $100.

So this is what I need

1. Keyboard with red switches (RGB would be lovely)

2. Amazing surround sound/quality headphone.

3. Mic under $100

4. Computer.

Budget : $3000~3300

Well, first of all you don't need a 6core & 16GB DDR3+ to run games on ultra, but I will look in to it.

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

The Blue Yeti costs anything from $100 to $150, you'll have to look around for that. As for everything else, very much under budget.

My opinion. I'm bad when it comes to sound and such. So I added that little headset + a 5.1 z906 and some Zotac sli for the road ;)

If he wants to upgrade to 64gb he has to use 8gb sticks. It would limit him to 32gigs total and then he could also get a LGA1150 mobo.

Also 1TB seems a bit underkill for a 3k$ rig.

God himself didn't used 64Gb to create the world. Than 1-2 TB is overspaced, If you don't know, the larger the disk it's the faster it fails. You don't fill that 1TB or 2 not even in 3 years. and if you didn't noticed he just use 1 monitor, which means not a heavy worker, also your ram thing going one is pretty much nonsense.

My spec doesn't have that problem.  :D

Yet, In your case, you could do an SLI and a Full Tower. the thing is that, with this amount of money and the new tech you can't fail of doing a build, is just matter of others opinion.

He has a 1080 monitor, SLI GTX 980s is overkill. He should only go SLI later with 1440 or 4k, at 1080 it's a waste of cash. What's more, going with a Mobo that costs more than a CPU is a bit excessive. Choosing the most expensive item is never a good idea. Bang for buck is king.

haha~ If you think that's going on you're sooo~ wrong, a good mobo is never a bad idea. you sound like it would bottleneck cuz the mobo is more expensive than the cpu. u.u loved that ;) Then is not a waste of cash if he is asking for. Is nothing overkill in there, that's the performance of $3500.

You've made a lot of assumptions based on the tiny amount of script you have to go on. At no point did I allude to "bottleneck". What I meant, is what I said. Read it again, hopefully it makes sense now.

You recommend the most expensive mobo, it costs $237.01 more than the one I recommended. It won't perform $237.01 better than the one I recommended. As I said before (though it apparantly didn't sink in); Bang for buck is king.

Is not like you pay for the parts is it?! .. And yes, it will perform better. not x2 but it will.

Yes. The purpose of the New Builds and Planning sub-forum is to request and dispense advice on buying PC parts. So no, I do not need to, nor in fact do I pay for these parts.

Well done. You've grasped the premise of the existence of these forum pages. Lovely-Jublee.
