windows server 2012 versions

Which version of windows 2012 server should i get? I can get any version for $25 so the price isnt a problem. or should i just go with a Linux server os?

I'd go with Linux personally. Depending on your use case of course.

then which Linux then? i used the Ubuntu sever for like 5 mins but wasnt a fan.

2012 R2 datacenter. It's what I use with great success.

Datacenter lets you make unlimited VMs and hyper V is very useful.

 

The standard edition will support 2 VMs unless they changed it.
