Hey guys,

Down in Aus we had a Lunar eclipse about an hour ago, so naturally I went and tried to take some photos.

Now that I'm back I realised that all the photos I took are in RAW format (.ARW to be precise, sony nex-5) and when I go to view them in picassa and able rawer, it loads the embedded jpeg preview just fine, but then one of two things happens, it immediately switches to a terrible magenta hue over the whole photo, or it just goes incredibly white/washed out.

This problem remains as I go to convert it to png/jpeg *using xnconverter. Any people know how to help?

Thanks a lot

Edit: I did search around a bit and someone's come across the same problem. People are attributing it down to data corruption... Hopefully not the case...

When extracting just the raw's embedded thumbnail

Use Lightroom or any photo software that takz your RAW format in. And convert them.

Apparently there is something wrong with picasa raw conversion, just use an other program.

Oh right, I forgot to mention that the images were converted from arw to png using xnconverter (coz it's free)

I believe it should. I'll download the trial version to see if it has it.

Yep, it's definitely your RAW converter not being able to handle the RAW file right http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread26750.htm

Recommendations are to try out another raw converter. Raw Therapee is free and should do the job right http://rawtherapee.com/blog/features
