Seeing as the 300 is upwards of $300 and the 770s are $200, I'd say get the 770 and modmic or a desktop mic.

I have MMX 300's and the mic is really good. I don't have the new mod mic to compare though.

Just get an O2. Problem solved. No extra DAC needed. With the O2 you can grab the 600ohm version without issues. (Although, if you feel like using those with your cell phone, it might not work well. You'd have to use em' with the O2 most likely.)
