Hi having trouble working out why my previous stable build has now started to randomly restart when worked hard (transcoding video and on prime 95) restarting within 30 mins normally.

As it is not posing a BSOD i originally suspected the PSU and have substitued it for a new one.

Have run memtest on all dimms individually and in dual channel but report no problems after 10 passes so far but this is only in single cpu mode as it freezes on test 3 on any of the multi cpu modes.

Any ideas on the cause of the problem as temps are fine (55 - 60 *c on prime 95)

system is as follows

AMD FX 8350

Gigabyte 970a-ds30 firmware -f1

850 w power supply

have removed graphics cars as was running a mismatch to use extra monitors but this seems to make no difference.

Many thanks

The problem is probably your motherboard. Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3. The VRMs are probably overheating.

- 4+1 power phase

- not heatsink over the VRMs

Thanks

Have managed to run prime 95 a few times today with a different graphics card in place only to have core 8 experience a fatal error with in a few mins and then a bsod 0x00000124

this is on a stripped down version running 2 dimms of 4 gb ram and an old graphics card pulled from my home server.

Ran prime 95 several times this morning with fatal errors appearing on cores 6,7,8 at different times and sometimes all together always appear about 1 min into the stress test

Have got rid of the bsod that seemed to be caused by my test graphics card.

rascal is right, that motherboard doesn't even support the 8350 because the VRM's are not heatsinked.

Also there is no such thing as an F1 Bios for your board. Not sure what revision you have of the board, but double check that you're on the latest bios.
