$300 Upgrade advice!

Go to solution Solved by Peter Vaughan Truslow,

So far this seems to be the best option, as the integrated graphics won't matter since I have an 7870.

Do you think it will be good enough for streaming?

I don't think you'd have any issues streaming. I personally do all of my streaming using the Nvidia NVenc for encoding, which is hardware H.264, but I doubt it would be an issue.

you WANT a SSD, and a 3470 is 90% as fast as a 3570k if you aren't overclocking, which you can't on that motherboard.

Hello,

I am looking for the best possible upgrade to my current system for around $300.00.

My current system:    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4Wp9RB

So far my ideas are:

Get a 3770k

Get a 3570k + 128gb SSD

I am asking for your help for the best bang for my buck! I already know how to build a computer so there shouldn't be any problems with assembly.

I will be needing this upgrade for streaming as my current processor can't stream very well.

Thank you for your time!

p.s. I am not against going AMD, I just don't know much about their processors. If you find a great upgrade with AMD and it is a proven product then I'm all for it!

actually if you aren't overclocking, the 3470 will get almost exactly the same performance, and won't hold you back at all in games compared to the 3570k. that would give you enough room in your budget for an 840 evo 250gb or a 850 pro 120gb without much stretching.

the 3470 has weaker integrated graphics and .2 ghz lower clock speed, but the CPU Core is identical.

with your motherboard you won't have access to overclocking anyways

make sure you update your BIOS to the latest for the motherboard before you switch CPUs, as support for Ivy bridge probably wasn't added until later with a BIOS update.

Get a 8370e, and upgrade that power supply! And if you have some money left get AMD RAM DISK (not RAM) but it makes your Ram Extremely fast! And If Possible Upgrade the HDD to a SSHD one from seagate will do very well.

Although I appreciate the response, I don't think that would be in my budget as I would need a new mobo + the psu as you stated.
