Completing my build

Hey All,

I'm after some help & advice on completing my build.

I think I might be a long one :D

But first I will post 2 links.

1. For my current build - http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/373zpg

2. Is my future build - http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/C9bnXL

My plan is to removed anything that is blue in this system, I do have a budget no more than $800.00 AUD so that must include shipping i will only be using 1 shop which is PCCaseGear only.

1. I will be buying the corsair metallic sleeved cable kit so in total will be $148.00

2. Looking to buy a AIO water cool in a 360mm i would like to get the FD one but it still hasn't come out yet so that leaves me with one choice does anyone have experience with the Thermaltake Water 3.0 units.

3. Memory, I would like to put 16GB of memory in the system I understand that games will not take advantage of it but I would like to have all of the ram slots fill, so I'm looking at the corsair or the Kingston sets.

4. SSD, I would like to get an SSD to replace my Seagate 1tb hdd i'm going to be using it for games and really only games that would take more advantage of modded games like skyrim & such, I have 5 ssd i'm looking at but they all seems to be about the same.

5. Fans i'm looking at buying the corsair white led 140mm fans.

6. Video Card, I'm using the ASUS GTX780 atm do you guys think I should upgrade to like a GTX970 either a Gigabyte G1 gaming or the MSI GTX970 I do like the fact that the 900 series cards use less power than the high 700 series, I have found on a warm to hot day where I am the case will get warm, not sure if that is normal cause I have never really own a high-end video card before, I will try and sell the 780 first before I buy the 970.

Your are more that happy to change the PC Part Picker list if you guys have better ideas.

Thank you all who are going to help me :)

Read the warning on your future build ^^ Your Mobo dont have enough SATA port to support that many HDD and SSD.

For your questions:

3. Either is fine, they are both good in making Rams. But why do you want to fill all those slot? It will put some strains on the Mobo and system. So if you are going to switch Ram because of color, get 2x8GB Ram instead of 4x4GB like that.

4. Are you going to choose 1 of those SSD or are you going to buy them all @@? If you are choosing 1 of those, any will be fine.

6. Not really. A 780 is still slightly faster than 1 970. It use abit more power but isnt all that hot, your GPU is perfectly fine as long as it dont go pass 85 Degree Celcius

My rig: Intel Core i7 4790k | MSI Z97 PC Mate | GSKILL Ripjaws X 16GB 1866MHz | ADATA Premier SP550 480GB SSD | Seagate Barracuda 3TB | Seagate Barracuda 2TB  | MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 | Thermaltake Versa N21 | Corsair CX550M Semi Modular PSU | AOC G2460PF 144Hz | Logitech G502 | GSKILL Ripjaws KM780  | GAMDIAS HEPHAESTUS V2  PCPartPicker | Old Build Log | New Build Log

Whoops, my bad then... I'm pretty sure the other review I have read have the 780 and 970 trade blow, on some game the 970 is faster but on other 980 is faster. Either way the different is too small to be worth changing.

Yeah. If I could trade my 780 for 970 I totally would, SLI performance is just too sexy.

About the SSD yeah i'm planing on buying all of them the choice is one out of those SSD's

I had problems with motherboards in the past faulty ram slots cause of dust, i live in a dusty area so i think where less dust can get into its less of a problem and plus it make the motherboard look nicer with all of the ram slots full

Thanks for your advice

If your problem is dust, filling them all probably wont help... You better get a better case with dust filter in every open slot. Stuff like NZXT H440 or so.

Why do you want to buy many small SSD like that, remember that warning, it warn you that you dont have enough SATA slot on your Mobo to get them all. Why dont you just get 1 big SSD?

I'm only buying 1 SSD of of the ones that i haven't brought, the reason why i want one that size is i have a budget that i have to keep under and tbh i only need one that small cause its for games and i don't have many games installed

I have dust filters already and no i will not be changing the case i'm quite happy with the 750D

My bad, I didnt notice that you have the 750... wait, how did you manage to get dust on a 750D? It's one of the best case out there...

If so then any SSD among those list is fine. Personally I prefer Samsung Evo or Intel SSD.

No in the past i've had a motherboard died from a faulty ram slot and the only thing i could put it down too is dust.

Well i don't understand if you say this motherboard will not like me putting four sticks of ram in it then why did asus put 4 ram slots on the board then

I'm not say it's not working, I just say that putting ram in all 4 slot will put more strains in the system, while putting only 1 also have problems as well. It's not randomly why we usually always use 2 out of all the available slot. You usually only use 4 slot when you already have 2 Ram stick you dont want to change, and you want to add some more. It will work fine.

Imo i think i looks better with all of the slots filled, how much strain does it put on a system if you have all of them filled

Mmm... probably not all that much if you think about it :P So yeah, you can do it if you want.

I personally have 3, just because I buy 2, and when my friend old computer broke down he gave me his Ram stick so I just put it in
