app iPhone recognition

Hey,

I was just wondering, how an app recognizes my phone?

Recently, there was an offer for a fast food restaurant where I'd have to enter a voucher number into their app to redeem it. I tried to do it again (obviously, free food ) but it didn't let me (again - obviously). Even after deleting the app and creating a new Apple ID for the App store, it still recognized that I've redeemed a voucher already.

I know on Android, individual apps store their data - and this can be deleted. But on iOS I can only delete the whole app - which doesn't help in this case.

I'm thinking you're using the McDonald app right? I see people need to sign in with a email address to redeem. So you might need to sign out of the email you use in that app.

BTW have you try deleting it, restart, then reinstalling it?

good tip, thanks.

Although it didn't work... even though I deleted my email and iCloud account and rebooted... when I went back to installing the app it still showed the little cloud icon for downloading (instead of the +free icon) - so it remembered somehow that I had the app installed already.

And ye, it's the McDonald's
