Hi there LTT peeps, busy planning my new build and could do with some advice.

What I already have from old build:

  • GPU: 7970
  • HDD: 128gb Vector, 2tb WD Green (Games drive)

Proposed new kit:

  • CPU: i5 4670k
  • Cooler: H100i
  • Case: Bitfenix Prodigy
  • PSU: Seasonic M12II 620W
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz C9 4gb (x2)

Motherboard: Undecided

Options: Asrock, Gigabyte, Asus (Doesn't seem to be released yet...but looks ugly anyway), MSi  - mITX boards

I have ~$200 left to spend on a board, so that should cover the price for any of these boards

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks  ;)

The New ASUS board will be a absolute dream to overclock with due to that extra PCB with all of the power phases. But if you dont like the look of it then go with the gigabyte one. I would personally prefer the ASUS though due to their AI suite 3

there is not one review out, for boards or anything about AI suite 3. how can you be so sure? :D

MSI Z87I looks like a nice board, but i would wait a week to see what else there is.

Hmmm...I do like that MSi board...

and since it doesn't look like Haswell overclocks all that well, I don't see the point in getting the Asus board...

Because the new Asus Z87 Mini-ITX Deluxe board is based on the old P8Z77-I deluxe design, the only difference being the socket, chipset, extra SATA 6gb ports and a slightly relocated Wi-Fi module.

And the Z77 board was the best Mini-ITX motherboard ever created by humans. In fact, it is the single best piece of computer hardware ever created by humans.

So why shouldn't the new one be great too? With extra features it'll automatically be better! Plus, the gold colour scheme is an improvement.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I like the gold but it might be difficult to match the color scheme.

Don't think so. Crucial's ballistix RAM is a match, Cougar and Enermax are both premium power supply manufacturers with golden PSUs, EVGA's ACX cooler for the Nvidia 7xx series has gold accents, slap a black Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 cooler on the CPU in a black case with black/ yellow sleeved cables and boom, you have an awesome black/gold theme going.

Besides, other manufacturers are making gold stuff now solely to match Asus boards. I believe Patriot just announced some golden RAM. EVGA's cooler is new, expect the trend to continue.
