I have been trying to install the windows 10 tech preview onto a virtual machine for the past day or so now, whenever I try installing it into VirtualBox I get this error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 10 Tech Preview.

VT-x is disabled in the BIOS. (VERR_VMX_MSR_VMXON_DISABLED).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: Console Interface: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6}

It allows the virtual computer screen to open to where I select the ISO, but then closes after that and gives this error.

My system specs are:

i5 4690K

MSI z97-g55 sli

8gb kingston hyperx fury black

1 1TB HDD, and 1 750GB HDD

I have looked in the bios and saw no setting for VT-x...

Anyone know how to fix this? (I am using the latest bios as of about a week ago)

Never seen this error before :( Try enabled the VT-D again??

That really sucks :( TBH I played around in Windows 10 for a little in my own VM and it wasn't really anything special. Just felt like a bit of a tweaked version of Windows 8.1 at this point (I didn't use it for very long though so I could be wrong)

I'll try uploading a picture of my cpu settings page in the bios tomorrow. (or possibly in a little bit)

Success! I have finally managed to get virtualbox working correctly with windows 10, turns out that it disliked that I was giving it 4GB of my 8GBs of ram, so just 2GB is working fine.

After playing around with it for a little bit I've decided that if the price of windows 10 is below $80 or so for those who currently do not have windows 7 or 8, I will most likely upgrade.

(Otherwise I will just get windows 8 cheap then upgrade to 10 for free xD)
