I am trying to put together a PC for my grandson. He will be 9 at the beginning of January and loves Minecraft. I am not looking for anything amazing just something cheap that he will be able to play some games on and use for school. This is what I have put together but would like some advice on where to possibly cut some corners without making it too horrible of a PC for him.

The motherboard and processor I can get as a combo deal at Microcenter for $100. I chose the Fractal Design case just because I like their products and I have extra 140mm fans that I could put in it if necessary. I have an extra hard drive and will probably use an old copy of Windows Vista on it.

The other thing I want to look into is getting the case painted or something with a Minecraft or TMNT theme. I have no artistic ability myself and don't know if there is anyplace to get skins of some sort to put on it. I may try to have a friend paint it for me but I didn't know if there were other options out there.

Thank you for any help you all can give me.

I want to put in a gpu since I am trying to get him to branch out in the games he plays. We got him to play Portal a bit and he seemed to like it so I want to give him the ability to play other things. Thanks for the psu advice. I appreciate it.

Personally I think your best bet is the amd apu's if your on a tight budget they offer great performance at the price point i can play battle field 4 mid settings on my a10. but if you have a bit more money to spend Id definatly look at the r7 265 the r9 270 doesnt offer more than 10% over the 265 and the 265 is less than 150$ its a true king under 200$ IMO

Good luck and glad to hear your grandson isnt on a console! :)

Project black out: cpu: athlon x4 750k @4.7ghz, Mobo: asrock fm2+ a55 vg3+, ram: 1x 8gb hyperx 1866mhz, video card: 1x saphire radeon r9 270x, Storage: 1tb hdd ssd in the future,  cooling: 2 noctua 120mm fans 1 on rad one front intake.
