Hi There, I know someone who'se having lower frame rates in multiplayer when playing Planetside 2, Arma 2/3 and Minecraft. . . He has AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz and thinks upgrading his CPU will help.

On singleplayer in Planetside he's getting 60+ and multiplayer 10-25. . . Lowering the graphical settings doesn't help either. . . . Any ideas how to help? thanks

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 | Cooler: Stock | RAM: 16GB Hyper Fury X RGB | GPU: RTX 2080 Super FTW3 | Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite| PSU: Corsair RM850x

Sounds like the CPU can't handle it, graphical settings won't help there. But someone with more AMD knowledge probably can tell your more about the performance of it

Agreed, PlanetSide2 is a power hungry beast, it just wont have enough. How much RAM does he have? because if i recall correctly the way PS2 is made, it relies on users' machines to crunch the numbers not the servers, more CPU power and RAM always help in that regard.

Steam page for PS2 suggest that 6GM of RAM is recommended, i would go with AT LEAST 8 GB more if possible.

Sorry can't assist you further I'm not much of an AMD guy ; D

As for Minecraft, did he try reducing the view distance to normal or lower? Or try updating Java?

I wouldn't worry too much about Arma, that game runs like sh** on everything. But a better graphics card will help and again more RAM.

Really? Oh well you're one lucky Godfather o.O I'm not that far away from you at 24 inches and Arma runs like sh*t what resolution do you play at? mine is the ol' 1920 x 1080

What are your specs btw?, Mine is a 2500k clocked at 3.30GHz 8 GB RAM and a Gtx 670. and still arma runs like sh*t and its pissing me off >:/

Resolution: 1680*1050. For my specs just look at my signature.

Just turn anti aliasing way down (like 2x) and turn post processing (AA) off, doesn't make much of a difference anyway.  (Arma 3)

Or are you talking about Arma 2?

If its DayZ i get around 25-40 fps in cities, in forest my gpu is actually used and i get around 40-60 fps almost everything on max. Shitiest optimization ever

AMD Radeon 7870 Gigabyte OC / Intel i5 3570k / ASrock Z77 Pro4 /Samsung 840 EVO 250GB / WD Blue 500GB 7200rpm / Kingston HyperX T1 2x4GB 1600mhz / SeaSonic 520w M12 / Thermaltake v4 Black

Depends for me, most of the time i stay above 60 FPS. There are some mods out there, that even kill my perfectly configured performance.

PS. There are tons of optimizations you can to with your conf, just look around on the big day z sites.

"I have 12GB. RAM really doesn't have anything to do with it though, honestly, as RAM determines how many programs I can technically have open at once. If there wasn't enough RAM then maybe it would run slow because it's copying it to the hard drive to compensate. I have plenty of RAM and GPU power, plus a 1TB 7200RPM harddrive so no other component could possibly hinder my performance.

Turning down the render distance on Minecraft does help, but I prefer Far and can get away with 30FPS+ on that. Minecraft is playable, I just want to get more frames so I can record as well."
