So I got a 3570K and this (http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3973#ov) and Ivy CPUs are shit on Z68 so I'm thinking of upgrading to (http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4440#ov) so is this a good idea? I really hate this mobo but there is other things I could upgrade in my system.

it's a great mobo but is it really worth it to make an upgrade costing $200 just before haswell comes out?

I mean if your having huge issues then sure go for it,but if it's some few issues, like no PCIE 3.0, that make very little difference then I'd stick with it and save for new mobo/cpu in case haswell is as much of an improvement over sandybrdge/ivybridge as it's proposed to be.

unless of course your swimming in money and plan to upgrade to haswell a few months after buying a new mobo, then all power to you, though I'd think you'd have bought an i7 if that were the case.:p

The stand is indeed made of metal but I wouldn't drive my car over a bridge made of it.

The gigabyte motherboard is very nice. If you would like the IVY bridge features, than get the z77. Otherwise, z68 will be just fine. You will just not be able to get the additional features Ivy bridge has. Why do you not like this motherboard anyways?
