Budget PC build

Hey guys,

My friend is asking me to build him a PC for around 700 $ USD, and wants a monitor included in that price. Here is what I have came up with so far. Do you have any suggestions on what should I do and things like that. He is going to use it mainly for watching movies, online work, watching some live streams, movies and things like that. A good monitor is a must. It would be very helpful.

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258

GPU: ???

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 4 GB 1866 MHz

PSU: Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze

MOBO: Asus H81 M-K

Case: Fractal Design Core 1000

Seeing that you have chosen an H81 motherboard, I'm going to assume that overclocking the processor is probably not going to happen. In that case, I'm not sure if the G3258 is necessary. If two threads are enough, have you considered getting a Celeron instead (or if four threads may be necessary, an i3)?

For the monitor, I know that Frys had a 27in LG IPS monitor for $220 the other day. Not sure about the prices right now, but they can be had for pretty close to $200 during sales.

As this is a client-build, I'd personally allocate more towards the Case itself, but if your friend sees no problem, neither do I.

I like the g3258 right now because it's so cheap that replacing it means very little money lost (only $60) and you can get an h97 chipset for it and be forwards compatible for a very long time. This means you could replace the CPU with a broadwell, and you can still overclock the G3258 because that chip is unique in its ability to overclock with h chipset MoBos and it'll perform well enough for even modern games. Just don't go crazy on the overclock with this setup because it's only the stock cooler. I kept the RAM to 4gb dual channel kit because it's enough to get by right now and the MoBo has 4 slots so you can just pop more in later when you need it. I like the Xion Xon case because it's cheap, comes with fans already, and has cable management, although the space is super cramped behind the MoBo. It checks off all the boxes I really want in a case: airflow and cable management, but putting that side panel back on might be tough.

I kept the price to $655 including an OS and monitor because you'll still need to buy a keyboard, mouse, and headset. Should be doable in the uber budget for ~$45. I'd suggest getting a Perixx MX-1800 for the mouse though as that has good components (avago A3090 sensor and omron buttons) and is only $22, and then getting a cheap keyboard, and a headset if you really want it even though the monitor has build in speakers.

edit: also, don't buy your OS key from sites like g2a or other crap. They're not authorized retailers and sell you dreamspark keys which is 1) against terms and 2) they're only temporary keys. If you don't need the OS, let me know and I'll rework the build. As is, it's basically a $435 build due to the monitor/os/peripherals.
