The Importance of Normal Mapping Textures in Video Games

NInety

I'm not sure where to put this so I'm just going to put it in gaming. I got bored so I decided to make this. I hope you enjoy! :D

High-Res Mesh

This High Resolution Mesh has a LOT of polygons making it harder for computers to render. The less polygons, the better. (In gaming scenarios)

Now, with the power of Normal Map Baking, I will fake the lighting on a single polygon.

I also 'baked' the Ambient Occlusion!

Ambient Occlusion Only:

Ambient Occlusion + Normal Map:

After some tweaking:

I was going for a Borderlands-ish look.

All that detail on a single polygon.

There are some threads that I bookmark to send people to when they are confused.

This is now in that folder.

Heh that isn't what I meant at all :P it is a functional and factual post that is easy to understand by people who are less-educated.

Here is another one http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/191371-the-30-fps-eyeball/

I got what you meant, but it's still an honor.
