what is the difference?

Go to solution Solved by Fulgrim,

I generally dislike using Windows update for drivers, i prefer to get them direct via the manufacturer's site.

The Windows Update version may just be the driver itself, without the rest that gets bundled with AMD Catalyst (HDMI audio drivers etc)

Between AMD drivers from website and Win 8.1 system update. The one I have on right now is 14.4 and it is updated on AMD website 25.4.2014 and is 256MB large, while this one on windows system update is published 23.7.2014 and it is 120MB. AMD CCC isn't showing any new updates beside beta drivers which aren't needed for me right now. Just curious what is the difference? Is win8.1 suggestion newer?

See i was under the impression that windows are verified drives, fully tested so they work 100%.

not that long a go when 14 cata was released i downloaded from amd site and they just out right refused to install.

yeah, probably that. So they aprooved it for windows later so it was released later on win updates....but why is it showing? I mean if I am up to date why is it suggesting to "update" when it is the same driver?
