$2000 AUD Gaming Rig - First Build

Caillan12

I'm turning 21 in a few weeks and have $2000 AUD (Australian Dollars) to buy everything I need for a gaming PC, including monitor, mouse and keyboard.

I've spent a bit of time researching and learning about parts, and came up with the following build. Is it any good? Are the parts compatible and going to fit in the case? Do I need more power?

Optical Drive: Lite-On Super AllWrite 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive - Bulk - IHAS124-04 (19.99)

Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24-inch LED-lit Monitor 144Hz refresh rate 1ms pixel response time & 3D capable (264.99) Case: Corsair Obsidian Series Black 650D Mid Tower Computer Case (CC650DW-1) (125.99) Motherboard: ASUS Micro ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards GRYPHON Z97 (154.99) Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10) (159.99) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST1000DM003 (53.99) Storage: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE250BW (129.99) PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 744 Power Supply CX750M (79.99) Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i (99.99) CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) (BX80646I74790K) (339.99) GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB GDDR5 PCiE Video Graphics Card GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD (369.99) SteelSeries QcK Gaming Mouse Pad (Black) (9.88) Razer DeathAdder Ergonomic PC Gaming Mouse (53.28) Razer DeathStalker Essential Gaming Keyboard (41.28) Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound 3.5 Grams (7.92) Microsoft Windows 8.1 - Full Version (109.22) Rosewill RTK-002 Anti-Static Wrist Strap Components Black, Yellow (5.99) Total: $2027.46

Let me know what you think, if I should change some parts or the entire thing!

Oh, fyi its for gaming, with a bit of normal usage web browsing and microsoft word stuff.

oh the formatting...

Other than that

1. You don't need an i7 for gaming, and i5 4690k will be plenty

2. That mother board is Micro-atx and that case is atx, while it will fit, it will look very out of proportion

3. 8gbs of ram is plenty, no need for 16gbs

4. PSU is overkill for a single 970, and you will want a better one if you plan to upgrade to sli e.g. 750/850 watt 80+ gold from EVGA or Seasonic

5. Razer aren't known for being very good in any department... try fitting a mechanical keyboard in, sooo worth it.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 | GPU: XFX r9 280x DD BLACK OC EDITION | RAM: 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1600Mhz | Mobo: Gigabyte h97n-WIFI | PSU: EVGA 600B | Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 | Cooler: Stock intel | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120gb | Storage: WD 150 gb

CPU: Intel Core i7 4710MQ | GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 850M | RAM: 8gb Corsair 1600Mhz | Mobo: Metabox WA50SJ Motherboard | Case: Metabox WA50SJ case | Cooler: Stock | SSD: Sandisk 256gb

2 - Ok, any suggestions?

4 - After purchasing and building, I'm planning on keeping it all pretty much the same, so no SLI. Is 500W too low?

5 - Any reccommendations for companies or specific products?

Here, that is $1500 and that leaves enough for peripherals. Since you live in Melbourne you can pick the parts up directly to avoid shipping costs.

For keyboard I can Highly reccomend a mechanical keyboard. As for which one, you will have to do a bit of research yourself as what you like varies from person to person.

Whoops forgot link

EDIT - Nevermind, I can't do it, I realised that I forgot RAM and a cooler. Seriously, where they fuck did you put together that parts list? cause it certainly isn't Australia

And colour scheme/case I'm not really fussed. Only part I'm really sold on is the GTX970 for the GPU, but the Asus, Gigabyte and MSI versions all lseem pretty great.
