Its my birthday coming up and I think I am going to throw out my crappy £15 perixx and invest in something more quality, the thing is that I know absolutely nothing about keyboards so I need someone's help.

It will be my first time using a mechanical board so I need some advice on what to order and what keyboards are best etc

I play WoW a lot mainly PvP so maybe that's a factor :P

Thanks

Budget?

There really is no best mechanical keyboard, since everybody has their own preferences when it comes to key switches.

I suggest you find somewhere like best buy to go and try out the different switches (Blacks, Reds, Blues, Browns...).

Personally I like Cherry MX Blues, because they are so nice and satisfying to press, but only you know what you like.

I would suggest a Corsair K70 or K95 just because of their excellent build quality and overwhelmingly positive reviews. But the real question isn't what keyboard you should get, it's what switches that really matters.

I'm that guy with the GPD Win.

I'm a razer fanboy, every peripheral i own is razer, well except the monitors. So i would say the Blackwidow. If i wasn't being biased, i would recommend anything Corsair. They tend to do really well with gaming peripherals as well. You can't really go wrong with any mechanical keyboard so long as you don't spend only 50 dollars/euros on it. If you want mechanical, make sure you're willing to spend a bit of money, not a lot, but over 120 USD. Make sure it's a well known manufacturer though, don't buy from some company you've never heard of. If you're not sure, do a little research on the company, read the reviews, etc. But again, with a biased opinion, you can't go wrong with the Razer Blackwidow, plus for the price, you can't go wrong, roughly 130 USD.

SOLID KEYBOARDS, exteremly reputable keyboards from the mechanical keyboard enthusiants;

Ducky

Filco

Poker

Cherry

Das? (Never used one, not sure about durability)

GAMING KEYBOARDS, sexy but more leaned to the consumer side;

Coolermaster

Corsair

Logitech

Razer (Questionable quality)

Can't go wrong with any of those, I tried and owned most of them.

The only keyboard I ever broke was a rosewill mechanical, and I broke 2 of them. So avoid those :)

•  i7 4770k @4.5ghz 1.248v • Noctua NHD14  •  ASUS MAXIMUS VI Hero •  Asus STIRIX 980 Ti •

•  Corsair Vengeance Pro 16Gb  •  Samsung 840 250gb + Samsung 1TB 7200RPM •  BenQ XL2430T 144Hz  •

•  Fractal Design R4  •  CoolerMaster GX650 80+ •  Razer Deathadder Chroma  •  Filco Ninja 2 Red  •  HD600/HE-4/ Fiio E17  •

hmm since you don't exactly know what you look for then lets go off what you use your keyboard for and what you like to see in keyboards in general back lit mechanical and so on and your budget for the keyboard.

Budget is around £110, i like a back light, preferably red as my PC is fully red, mouse is red, mouse mat red, headphones red :P

Does anyone else just still use their generic microsoft keybaord? Nothing wrong with keyboards form razer and corsair or anything. I'm still happy with mine, as a poor student.

I use it sometimes, just to feel old school while browsing.
