Why does it need to be platinum?

Get an EVGTA G2 750w, its cheaper and better.

Get rid of the 8350, and go with an i5. Better thermals/ TDP.\/ Perfornance/ Wattage. Slightly more expensive, and requires MoBo change.

Replace 780 with 970 slightly more, more performance, less watts

Never heard of kingwin before, doing research it appears they are decent...

Go with the changes I suggested and a corsair CX PSU.

And why do you want a Platinum at that low wattage? A gold would do just fine.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

My electrisity bill and saving tress i guess

A. Getting a higher wattage PSU doesn't mean that it will consume more power.

B. A Gold rated PSU will be enough, unless you pay like > $1/kWh.

Gunna see if I can get a better build at $900, I'll be back.

Edit:

That build you listed doesn't even have any RAM O_o, do you already have some you can reuse?

What do you need? OS, peripherals, a monitor?

CPU: Intel i7 8700K | CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 | RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x8GB | Motherboard: Asus ROG Z370-E | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB & 2TB | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB & 970 EVO M.2 500GB | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X | PSU: Silverstone Platinum Strider 1100W | Monitor: AOC i2367Fh | Headphones: ATH-M40X | Mic: Antlion ModMic 4 | Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB w/ MX Browns | Mouse: Logitech G502 HERO

But he needs some RAM, and I'm sure the ACX cooler with the GTX 970 has some problems with the heatpipes not being aligned and not having direct contact. Though that might be with the GTX 980 or both.

yeah that's true, I haven't heard of that problem before though but if it is actually an issue then a diff one would be good i guess. Also, for ran @op just take out the ssd and put in 8gb of ram

So I put this together, it has a 4690K, but OCing will be nonexistent because of no aftermarket cooler. It is 54 bucks over the $900 budget but otherwise you'd be loosing out on the efficiency of the PSU, performance from the CPU or GPU along with the ability to go SLI later on.

You can have a second GPU that can run in SLI later on because that motherboard supports it and the PSU can handle it because of the Maxwell architecture's minimal power consumption.

This is a very nice build, and for $900 you'd be missing out on a few things, so saving up for just that bit longer will prove useful.
