Hi there, I'm trying to save a few bucks on this build and I was wondering if it's necessary to have an aftermarket heatsink if I don't plan on OC'ing my cpu. the only thing I plan on overclocking is the gpu to hopefully around 1100mhz. this is the build

If you plan on overclocking the gpu then why wouldn't you overclock the cpu? WTH?  Sorry but I think I need to leave the LTT message boards for awhile cuz I think I am going to get frustrated.  I can see where this evening is headed with these boards.

I don't really see a need to overclock the cpu much, maybe a few hz but.. really.

no you don't need the after market cooler if you are not going to overclock i ran my fx 6300 off the stock cooler for atleast half a year before i decided to over clock.

You're right.... you don't necessarily need aftermarket cooling if you don't plan to overclock, you can even undervolt if you want to cut down temps a little.
