Reinstalling Windows 8.1

My friend's MSI G70 Stealth Gaming Laptop needs a reinstall of windows. We are both noobs at this so is it possible the recovery disc included to reinstall his operating system? (Windows 8.1)

what is should do is make a backup of all your documents, pictrures etc. 

(if you have programs where you dont have the disk/usb/digital delivery for then this would work)

 

then set the bios to boot from disk or usb where windows is on then just boot in the windows instalation and it will format the drive and instal windows

 

if windows is installed replace you backup

Go to charms bar -> pc settings -> recovery -> reset and then reset this PC to factory defaults (or similar).

You can reinstall windows via the system restore or if you enter advance boot, it will remove all programs but leave apps, files, pics, music etc or you can fully reinstall windows as a new pc deleting everything.

you will loose al your programs tho and i think documents aswell so still i would recomend a backup

depends what type of re install, you can do a partial wher just system programs are erased and windows is re installed but apps and personal documents are left, or fully reinstall it and loose everything

 

He can back up his data by syncing it to sky drive build into windows 8 or back up to other cloud services or use a diffrent hard drive.
