Finally i have enough to build my 1st gaming setup with a budget of about £800 but I still can't decide on a final build! :) Ideally it would have an i7 4790k, a new gtx 970 and a SSD/Hard Drive combo. If needed though I would settle for the gtx 770 or the i5 4690k  (preferably the latter of the two). i am prepared to wait a bit for prices to come down with things like DDR4 and the Gtx 980 out but I would prefer not to need to upgrade any parts for the next couple of years so future proofing is a good idea to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated as getting the first PC right is crucial to me as a teenager!

p.s- I would be playing games like BF4, Civ, GTA V (when it's out) and Thief.

Do you edit a lot? If you dont a i5 4690k will be fine and you can still edit on that just not as heavily.

I'd say DDR4 is going to be out of budget for quite a while, definitely try to get the GTX 970 and prioritise an SSD in your build, they're great. Also, the CPU is a bit overkill you could probably take the funds out of there and push them into an area which will benefit your needs a bit more.

Not planning to much, mainly for gaming but may do in the future.

If this system is mainly for gaming, I would just stick to a i5 for now. Unless you're planning to do a lot in the future. Also, try and get the 970. It is cheaper now and thanks to it not needing much power, it will be cheaper in the long run. Plus it is about as powerful as a 780.

You'd need an x99 chipset build for ddr4. Just go with a gtx 970 and a 4690k for now, if you really want the 4790k you can get one later and sell your 4690k online to make some money back. Definitely get at least a 120 gig ssd

Since your build prioritise gaming and future editing so I go with a different route for the 970
