PC build for me

Skeith

Hi! First post! So, I've been watching some of LTT videos and the builds, but I would really want your input for the PC build.

1. Budget & Location

Well, firstly, I'm living in Hong Kong, which, some of you may know, is full of small, cramped living spaces. I've uploaded a few pictures of where I plan to put the PC.

(either 1. somewhere one of these arrows are pointing, sorry for the mess, I live with my little cousin.

or lower right side. The pc in the pictures will be gone when I have the new pc.)

My budget is probably around a total of around $1,500.00 to $2,000.00, hopefully including monitors as well. But, to be honest, I am more than willing to go over my budget, if need be.

For the GPU, I like the GTX 780Ti, so, I'll go with that. Which aftermarket would be best (for performance and cooling), since the weather here could get really hot, and don't want too much heat in the pc, if I can help it. Also, please suggest the other parts?

2. Aim

Well, it's going to be used for gaming purposes. I'm currently playing Titfanfall. But, I plan to play Far Cry 4, and others. Most important is that I want to play the games in high or ultra.

3. Monitors
Only 1 monitor. Originally plan to buy 1080p monitors, but, I also kind of want a 1440p one as well.

4. Peripherals
For Windows, I'm currently using Windows 8 for my laptop and all the games that I play run with no obvious problems. But, is Windows 7 still better than Win 8 or 8.1?

5. Why are you upgrading?
Don't really want to play on laptop. I've been "planning" on buying one for a year and a half now.

@Skeith I assume that "$1500-$2000" is USD? I was thinking HKD at first and then I remembered that AUD:HKD is about 1:7, so $2000HKD probably doesn't even buy you a 780Ti...

Is there any PC shops in Hong Kong you can link us to? Only because prices vary by region, and I don't know how expensive or cheap parts are in Hong Kong.

Also, you should really consider a GTX 970 or 980. The 980 is stomping on the 780Ti, but more importantly if quietness and coolness are priorities for you then a 980 is a no-brainer. If it's too expensive, then a 970 won't be quite as good as a 780Ti but is more than enough for 1080p at the moment, and should handle 1440p ultra/very high just fine in most games (and when it can't, it will still be on high).

When it comes to Windows 7 vs 8.1, basically the complaints relating to 8.1 are about it's UI which can be frustrating for many who prefer the older-style start menu (myself included). However, when it comes to running games everything is fine - W8.1 can even give you a performance boost over W7.

The Gtx 980 would be  a overkill for 1080p for some but as u said u want to play all the games at ultra settings.
It will run all games at 1080p at 60 fps.

And if u r not going to overclock your processor insanely then just go with a Cm hyper 212 evo.

@Skeith @Devil0359 only think I would say is to get the Gigabyte Windforce cooler rather than reference if you want a quieter system, and also to keep the GPU a bit cooler in those Hong Kong summers:

That was my personal choice.

The Gtx 980 form gigabyte is clocked at higher speed and will keep the card much cooler.

But its 50$ expensive.
