Hardware is awesome

Yesterday my new i5 4690k CPU and ASUS Z97-P motherboard arrived in the post, I then spent the afternoon and night installing it all. It was the first time I installed a CPU and mobo, but it all happened without too many troubles (did forget to plug in one cable, but found out within 15 minutes). I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. I even got a little bit emotional about my old stuff going into retirement. My good old i7 860 will be missed.

 

I knew the GAME24 event was coming up at that time (for me it started at 2 AM), and was looking forward to seeing the 900-series announced. And boy it did. The pricing absolutely blew my mind: the GTX 970 seems to have an amazing price/performance ratio and the GTX 980 is just straight up baller while still affordable. Damn, I should look into getting a job now.

 

For some reason I felt like getting up early this morning. I started installing Windows and stuff while watching the stream and being amazed by the benchmarks. I did have to go to school this morning, but I only had classes from 11 AM to 1 PM. Not that it mattered, I was smiling all the way through it. The rest of the day was mostly spent installing Windows and all of its bloody updates. All of this while conveniently having the MOD24 stream open. Loving it so far. Maybe i'll even stay up to watch it to the end. Hell, it's weekend anyway.

 

Altogether, these few days have launched my hardware hobby through the roof. It may take some saving but one day I will run all the Skyrim mods!

Well what can i say enjoy your new stuff cuz i know that feel jumping from an 4 year old pc with a i3 and his 5750 to a r9 290x and i7-4790K feels amazing.After the upgrade i donate that pc to some poor kids because it was the right thing to do(you should do the same if you don't have a use to it)

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

Oh, my toughest problems have been thrown out of the window already  :)  I used to have a weird problem where I had to reboot in order to get full performance on my PC but the new mobo seems to have fixed it.

That is odd. For the future then. Help where you can and ask where you have to. :)
