G'day guys and girls, I'm planning on building a new rig mainly for gaming (Far Cry 3, Dota 2). I'm from Australia but I don't really have a budget so please don't stress too much about prices. Anywhere around $1600-$1800 in whatever currency partpicker uses haha. I have all required peripherals.

So at the moment I've basically picked a heap of parts that I think are good brands that I've had good experiences with (Asus, Nvidia, Corsair). I've watched a heap of LTT videos too (They're brilliant!) for more information.

The case is personal, I really like the Core v71, but everything else is negotiable.

I'm sorry, I thought I did. It'll be for gaming, I've recently been playing Dota 2. If I could be more specific I would but I'm not that great on the subject.

What's the 980? TAKE MY MONEY!!11 I don't think I'll be buying for a month or so but I'll definitely check that out.

As for CPU Cooling, I was going to see how the stock cooler went for what I use the computer for and if it caused any troubles I'd get a water cooler.

1. don't waste your money on the 900 series, they just came out and cost a butt load your better off price and performance wise getting the cross fire 290's. as for the cooler i beg you to not use stock, its loud and un effective. please go with something like an 212 evo or any AIO water cooler than requires no work and won't leak

No offence, but I kinda get the feeling this forum is slightly hypocritical. While you kindly request that I add as much information as possible (and I made an effort to go through all the details I felt relevant) to make it easier for others to comment on (and even after I said I'd like to stick with Nvidia), I get suggestions for Radeon gfx cards. Why? Is it better? Is it cheaper? Is it going to last longer? You can't just put a list up and say you should buy this. You have to tell me why you think the parts in your list are better.

If you are getting a 780, you might want to spring for the 780ti, its more, but its stronger. If you don't have a solid price for what you want to spend on it, then it will be no problem. Also, from what i've heard, the 970 and 980 are going to be (performance wise) right between the 770 and 780. Also, i highly recommend a asus ROG series motherboard. they have tons of features and lots of room for upgrading. I'd use the ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA1150 mobo. It looks good, and works great. Another thing, for your ssd, unless you are thinking about getting another one in the future, get one now and Raid-0 them. you can get faster and better performance out of them. Thats all I have for you, good luck with the PC

Yeah I'll hold out until I got a better idea of price and performance on the new Gtx cards. I was looking at the ROG boards but I felt like there weren't that many more interesting features to justify the increase in price. Plus I kinda like the look of the Sabertooth over the ROG boards. Thank you for your helpful input.
