Over clocking for the first time

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

Watch some guide videos first. Find out what are the maxinum voltages you can use with both GPU and CPU. Keep an eye on your temps and do short (5-15min) stress test after every change.

I have been using my pc for a while. It's a bit of a Frankenstein right now but I'm about to upgrade it. I currently have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750ti OC. I've been trying to overclock it but I can't seem to be successful. I will be getting a 770/780 in the future but I want more power now if possible and was wondering if it is able to be overclocked or if it is locked.

I will be putting an AMD fx-8350 with an ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z. I want to overclock it as well. I will be installing a custom water cooling system as well, so it will stay cool enough. The rad I bought is a 360mm in the Cooler Master HAF X.

If there are any tips, tricks, warnings or stories, they would be helpful. I would also appreciate any recommendations. I have already bought the processor, so that's out of the way.

small steps, watch temps, don't over do the voltage and lots and lots of stress testing.
