I have to build a computer for video editing. It's used to do post processing on recorded sermons from my church before its sent to the tv station. We use Premier pro CS5. has spport for a gtx 470 for gpu acceleration. should i keep the gpu and just get a better cpu? Was thinking on going with the i7-4770. any tips on the other parts or in general?

A second computer is used to power the projector and its own monitor. however they want to hook up another tv to that combination. note the computer is a low end hp (off the shelf not even i-series processor). I mean its just powerpoints it will be showing anyway. should i upgrade that computer? or just use an hdmi splitter to duplicate the signal that's going to the projector and run that to the tv? and should i get a dedicated graphics card (noting high end) to just take some load of the cpu powering those three screens?

Any advice would be nice. Thanks!

well we have a vid editing computer already, so im just probably changing motherboard and cpu, and get an ssd. the  case, power supply, cooler and  hdds will be reused. when I asked them about their budget they just said, try to get it up and running as soon as possible (cant give an exact figure rite now). so obviously im not going with any quadro or xeon or anything. i'm just trying to keep a good price/performance ratio. but if we NEED to spend the money to get something good, it shouldn't be a problem

whats the current spec?

you might just be able to upgrade the ram / hard drives and a dedicated graphics card as its not that much a deal unless your doing special effects and its an everyday computer / recordings your editing etc.

I used to film for a church and we just used just any old computer and it was ok, a laptop or m-itx system would also do.

or APU system.

lots of fast ram and hard drive interfaces can make a big difference.  unless the computer is like more than 5 years old then its a different story, bin it and get new.

got to love Asus components

it currently has an i7-2600k, GTX 560ti, 16gigs of ram.
apart from the post video editing. it also needs to do the multi-track recording, video recording, and live video playback to a 1080p monitor (apart from its own monitor in the studio) all at the same time. We use  a program called wirecast.
