New Budget Build

Hey guys.

 

After 6~ish years of good service, I'm planning to retire my Socket 775 rig (Parts in my signature). After much tinkering, I decided on my new parts based on a $564.85 budget. Why that precise you ask? Its because its the equivalent of 25,000 Philippine Pesos (will be referred as Php for the rest of this post). That's the max I can go, but I'm probably willing to raise it up to $677.81 (or Php30000) if the need is present. But as always, lower is better when it comes to prices.

 

Anyways, here are my selected parts:

Processor: INTEL® CORE™ I5-4460 PROCESSOR (3.2GHz Stock, 3.4GHz Turbo) @ $190.92 (Php 8,450) OR INTEL CORE I5-4430 (3.0 GHz Stock, 3.2 GHz Turbo) @ $186.40 (Php 8,250)

RAM: 2x CORSAIR 4GB XMS3 DDR3 1600 @ $99.41 (Php 4,400)

PSU: CORSAIR VS550 550W @ $48.58 (Php 2,150)

GPU: EVGA GTX650 Superclocked 2GB GDDR5 128BIT @ $124.27 (Php 5,500)

TOTAL: $562.59 (Php 24900)

 

So the obvious inquiries here are:

1. Are these specs good enough?

2. Any changes I need to make?

 

NOTES:

1. I don't plan to go SSD... IMHO, a Mechanical Drive is enough for my needs.

2. Needs include mostly Web Browsing, some Gaming, and a little bit of Adobe stuff every now and then

3. No HDD on list since I just recently bought a WD Caviar Blue (after my old WD Caviar 200GB died), no ODD since who needs one... I'm just joking... I have a LiteOn external DVD...

4. That PSU is probably overkill... I looked my parts up on a PSU calculator and it turns out I will only use 280~ish watts of power ONLY... I might re-use my old power supply to save money, but since it's a no-name PSU, I wouldn't count on it...

5. I'm not getting an aftermarket cooler because no overclocking is necessary since the CPU is not unlocked. If I need one, I'll definitely go for a Hyper 212x, which is $37.28 (Php 1,650)

Where will you buy it? What's your case? I prefer you buy an aftermarket cooler AmateurPCGuy because it can make you rig quieter.

I know it's not a store in the Philippines but this is much more balanced and more graphically capable, it's also a bit over but if you wait and save up more you can get a MUCH stronger machine.

If you can get this, 100% yes. If you need to drop the price, get rid of the special cooler and switch the SSD for a 1TB HDD.

One thing I'd like to mention is that it appears as though there is a large gap in performance between i3s and i5s in Adobe software ( compared to the gap between i5s and i7s). How much Adobe work do you do ( or rather, when you do use it, how big are your projects) ?

PC Express... I'm planning to re-use my old case, which is some random case with an Apple-logo on it (oh, the irony)... but I'm planning to change that to a Cooler Master K280 case as an upgrade... (although I'd like to save up for a Carbide 200R) Also, The noise that my current CPU cooler (stock Intel cooler FTW [Kappa]) makes is very unnoticeable, so silence isn't much of a big deal...

I'm pretty sure that Newegg (and others) doesn't ship to the Philippines...

Feather-light Adobe work... like I'd open up Premiere Pro once in a blue moon (although I'm working on a video right now) and Photoshop every now and then...
