Chromecast Connectivity

So, I got a Chromecast last week and it worked as intended; connected to my laptop and my phone without an issue. The signal strength between the CC and my laptop however wasn't good enough for streaming HD movies, so I got a wireless router (Asus RT-N12E) for my room which is connected to my modem/router combo. I used my phone to reset the CC to factory settings to establish a new wireless connection using my phone, setup went fine. Tested a Youtube stream to it, all fine. However, now my laptop can't see the CC. Can't find it in the Chrome extension, can't find it using the Chromecast utility.

 

Anyone with a Chromecase experience something like this?

Sometimes my chromecast loses connectivity, I usually restart the chromecast via the physical button and that usually works for me.

Also, double check to make sure its got a white light on as opposed to a red light
