Which is a better headset?

Hey guys, first post on the forums. 

 

I was just wondering if annyone could tell me a great headset to buy. I currently have Astro a40's w/Mix-amp and I was wondering if it was worth getting and upgrade to say, a ath-adg1 or ad700x or even 900x. Just wondering if someone could give me insight into if I should upgrade or stay with the same.

 

Price range is $200~350

For gaming, the ad700x + mod mic will be a worth while upgrade. Fantastic soundstage and imaging, very comfortable, beautiful build quality and design on top of a bright sound signature I like. Just add a mod mic 4.0 and voila, a fantastic headset. The adg1 is just an ad700x with an added mic, not worth the price.

Edit: if you would like a warmer sound signature, check out the hd558s. Consider the k612 pros as well. I've got reviews on both the ad900x and hd598, links in my signature. Overall, both the ad900x and hd598s share similar sound quality as the lower end model.

Hi I am looking at getting new headphones too and have been looking at the akg q701 or k702 which are both around 200 on amazon atm. Does anyone have any experience with either of these and what would they say about them vs the ad700x or 900x and would i need an amp/dac. I am planning on using them with a laptop and may get a mic in the future.
