How does the Youtube analytics work?

I'm no Youtuber so I don't know how anything works on Youtube when it comes to the creator side but I had a chance to have a peek when I had to upload a video for something. I am trying to understand how this analytics system work.

 

Right now my video shows 8 views, keep in mind but it should not be that many anyway, but the analytics show 0 views in the lifetime of my channel.

 

As to why it should not be that many, at least 3-4 of those views came from me. Yeah, for some reason Youtube counted me each time I opened the video. Why doesn't it ignore the uploader's views or why does it count the same IP multiple times? The rest of the views must be the devious Youtube bots checking for copyright or something, maybe one view is from the person I sent the link to.

 

So what's up with that?
