I am looking for just a good ultra book. I want a ultrabook because they are small and im not gaming on it i just need it for school crap.

Requirements:

More than 11"

Touch screen is a plus

Thin

Around $1000 preferably less

Decent battery life (run around 5 hours of light use)

I was looking at this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314003

If a tablet would be better then by all means recommend one of those, Im not getting this right away, so if there is one coming out before the end of the year, again by all means say something about it.

Thanks, im just looking at options right now for the near future.

My advice is to wait for Haswell-equipped ultrabooks to come out since they'll have way better graphics and will make a much smaller dent into your battery life; additionally, the VRM on board the Haswells CPUs may allow for even thinner, more portable devices.

I'd rather get a traditional thinkpad that's not an ultrabook for the dvd drive so I can use a hdd caddy + ssd though.

Edit: You also seem to be buying a lot of stuff. Is it all to get ready for college?

The Macbook Air could actually be a good option. If it is just for schoolwork and productivity, Mac OSX is actually a decent choice.

AND now i know how to change the ssd so its even better :D

Just so you know, he did that for the Macbook Pro, not the Macbook Air. For the Macbook Air, you can't upgrade with a stock 2.5" ssd, but you have to get a special one that only a few manufacturers make.

Wait for haswell. Far less power consumption, better performance, and also better igpu performance.

Wait for haswell, better onboard graphics and much better battery life... There is a Samsung prototype with 2560x1440 notebook, I'd wait for it to be released (probably comes with haswell CPU)

Now that is going to be over 1k.

A mb air with the few things i need on it costs only $200 less than a mb air and the screen is smaller and isnt as powerful. im going to get the mb air i think but im going to see what haswell has though

I think you should wait for the haswell version of the mba.
