So I have tried ASUS GPU Tweak and MSI Afterburner and neither program will overclock my asus gtx 780 dc2oc. I can control the fan and turn down the temperature target but I can't turn anything up. Does anyone know what is going on? I click apply but nothing happens.

What programs are you using to monitor the clockl speeds?

GPU clock speeds change in increments of ~10MHz, so sometimes even if you change the clock speed by a little bit (let's say 5MHz, or sometime even 10) the actual clock of the card will not change.

What kind of changes/clock speeds are you trying to apply?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

I have tried a temperature target of 87c and nothing happened. Power target of 107% and nothing happened, I have overclocked by 5MHz and the boost clock stayed 1032.1. It was obvious nothing changed and all of my scores in valley have all been the same.

It's not showing up in gpu z as being overclocked but what about rivia tuner statistics? While you are in game have you activated it and read your gpu speed while the card is active? Just because you overclock does not mean your card will run constantly at a higher clock speed. Only when you start stressing you gpu will it clock up and I don't see you doing that much at the desktop.

I have been overclocking and checking it with valley, I just tried +10Mhz core clock was still 1032.1

I have 3 programs watching the card, in every program I can see the entire valley run, at no point does the clock ever changed from 1032.1 with any setting I have tried to apply.

Edit: From what I can see the card isn't even reaching the power limit, only going to about 98% even when I changed it.

This actually happened to me for a while, i was using afterburner on my 760 and it wouldn't change the clock speed even when in incremented by more than 10. But then one day it just worked for some reason? i don't know man, computers are weird.

I guess it needs more magic smoke? This card is really getting me frustrated. I am about to just RMA it and tell them it doesn't work like it should. I was gonna let the 80c temperatures in every game I run slide, but no overclocking either? I can't live with that. If I am going to run 80c it is going to be a worth while 80c.
