I cant deside if this MSI motherboard is worth the $60 more. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LUY72F6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1CADC2FS9RTBK)

i can bundle the CPU and MB at microcenter and get both cheaper but then i get this. (http://www.microcenter.com/product/366425/GA-990FXA-UD3_Socket_AM3_990FX_ATX_AMD_Motherboard)

both seem good but i wanted to make a black and red build with Asus 7800 Direct CU 2 on its way. the gigbabyte one will still fit the black and red bt just not as nice as the MSI. but i don't want to make my decision just on the color.

i am also not intrested in onboard audio i have G930 headphones

I would choose the gigabyte one because it has a 990FX chipset unlike the msi is 970, you can also go with the Crosshair Formula Z but it's around 200

If you're paying 130$ for an AMD board you'd be better off going Intel.

I checked if i get intel i will pay about $100 - $130 more for a i5k vs FX is good enough for gaming and it can overclock nice and i know at the moment 8 core don't do much for gaming but more how things are going now i don't know if its going to stay like that for long

if i bundle the Fx 8350 with the Gigabyte at microcenter i will pay about $240

The Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 is worth the additional cost over the MSI 970 board.

Uhm you're getting an advantage of up to 100% more fps with Intel thanks to their massive single core performance which is all what gaming is about. Even when 8350's are overclocked at 5GHz they don't touch stock i5's. Here are a bunch of benchmarks; http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/184204-amd-fx-8350-vs-i5-4670k/page-3#entry2490056

Since you asked for a red/black board, it just makes it a lot more expensive but anyways for 30$ more you have a i5.

@clementk

If you live near a Microcenter, there is no reason not to buy an Intel processor. i5-4690k + Z97-AR is $289.

If your purpose is gaming, you want an Intel processor.  FX processors just cannot keep up with Intel processors and their gaming experience is not as fluid or consistent.

Here is some reading material to help you understand.  First of all, FPS is not the only metric used to compare processors and graphics cards, frame times are just as important.  Here is an article that explains frame times.

Why Frame Times are Important

Now that you understand what Frame Times are and why they are important, check out these benchmarks:

Best CPU for Gaming - 9 Processors Tested

Processors Tested

Choosing a Gaming CPU

As you can see from the benchmarks, even an i3 provides a more consistent frame rate than any FX processor.  When you go with an Intel platform, you will be able to play every game without issue.  With an FX processor, there will be some games that just don't play as well. If you buy an FX processor, you will always be wondering, is this game going to play the way I want it to play? Games rely on stronger cores, not many weak cores.  The stronger cores of intel provide a more consistent playing experience and give a higher minimum FPS, which is the most important FPS measurement.  You will not bottleneck even the highest end GPU with an Intel processor, you would with an FX.  Intel also has an upgrade path, you can always go for an i7, and Z97 is compatible with Broadwell with a BIOS update so you are prepared for now and the future.  FX is an old processor from 2009 and is a dead platform.  There is no upgrade path, and the performance is not up to par with its Intel counterpart.

If you are really on a tight budget, you could buy a Pentium G3258 + Z97 motherboard for $100.  Overclock the Pentium to 4.2Ghz+ and get excellent results on a wide variety of games.  The only game that will have issue is Watch Dogs, everything else will be playable.  When you get enough money, you can upgrade to an i5 or i7.  Pair this with the best possible GPU you can afford.
