Navigation alternatives on Android

Anyone have some suggestions for an alternative to Nokia Maps or Nokia Drive on Android?
I can't seem to get Google Maps to work the way I want (i.e. just driving around with my location and speed shown like a minimap)

I still have my trusty Nokia N8 for navigation but it's a bit annoying to carry two smartphones everywhere.

PS. Nokia Drive has a "just drive" mode that functions like a minimap, speedo, and odometer
