Power Line Adapter Problem

Hello,

I recently got a new router and now my power line adapter (TRENDnet TPL-406E2K) and now I'm getting like 3 down and .5 up but I have 30 down and 10 up normally. 

Anyone know how to fix this.

I've never used powerline adapters myself, but I suppose it's at least worth mentioning that interference on the power circuit can cause poor network performance. You're supposed to plug them in away from things like refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, and... Computers. Try plugging the powerline adapters into different plugs. Not just plugs on the same wall, either.

 

And not yet knowing the model name of your router, the only thing I can think of suggesting right now is check the router's settings to see if it's working at 10, 100, or 1000Mbps. (You already did go through all the settings, right?)

I'd also reccomend DD-WRT firmware. It'll probably give you more control and information about your router and your network.

 

Edit: A Google search quickly tells me that router isn't by Comcast; it seems to be by Xfinity.

Perhaps you got a shitty modem/router from them, have you tried contacting them about it?
