Graphics-Heavy Build

Go to solution Solved by SAV1OUR,

Does the Clock Speed/VRAM heavily affect the performance? I know that I'll be getting at least 3GB of VRAM, but if Clock Speed has a big impact, would it be better to wait for the GTX980 (Rumored 1051MHZ Core Clock)? Or will that be sorta overkill?

eh it affects it but there's a big leap from a 4gb 760 to a 3gb 780. if you still feel as if you need the 4gb go with a 4gb 770 or wait till the 900 series

1. Budget & Location

My Budget is anything SGD$4000, but I can raise it up to up to SGD$4500. I actually live in Singapore, but I'll most likely be shipping parts over rather than buying from Local Retailers

2. Aim

Mainly doing 3D Rendering, Modelling, Colourwork, and some bit of Video Edting. Somewhat of Gaming, but that's on the very light side (e.g Terraria, League of Legends). Also working for long periods of time at once, perhaps 4-7 hours using Maya or 3DSMax

3. Monitors

Just the single Asus PA279Q Monitor, I have no need or desire to run multiple screens.

4. Peripherals

I already have my Razer Deathadder 2013 and my Razer Kraken Pro. Planning to get Windows 7 Ultimate as shown, but I might go for Windows 9 if it releases before I finish my build. I don't really know why I prefer Windows 7 over 8.1 ;-;

5. Why are you upgrading?

My table crashed onto my old Computer.

6. Plans
I plan to change the 5820K to a 6930K(Broadwell-E will use LGA2011-3, right?). Possible upgrade my RAM, and upgrade the GTX760?

At the moment I'm not actually even sure to get a GTX760 or something else.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($379.99 @ Amazon)    Lowest End X99 Processor, and it seems good enough for me anyway.
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($28.66 @ Amazon)   Had Great reviews
Motherboard: Asus X99-DELUXE ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($396.99 @ SuperBiiz)    Been a fan of Asus motherboards since forever, and this X99-Deluxe has a awesome colour
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory  ($549.99 @ Newegg)   I like the G.Skill Ripjaws Series RAM, but I might go for Dominator Platinum, comments?
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($109.00 @ Amazon)    Most of my files are on a NAS, so this SSD is just for essentials such as the OS.
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($272.98 @ Newegg)   Heard the GTX760 was a decent GPU to complement a Quadro in heavy Graphics work
Case: Corsair 760T White ATX Full Tower Case  ($189.99 @ Amazon)    It's White
Power Supply: Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($184.99 @ Amazon)    Didn't really do much research here, but I know that Corsair make good PSUs.
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer  ($16.98 @ OutletPC)    Cheap, probably ever only using it once to install OS.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($197.97 @ OutletPC)    Best Windows 7
Monitor: Asus PA279Q 27.0" Monitor  ($738.12 @ Amazon)
Other: Quadro K4000 (Purchased)
Total: $3065.66 (SGD$3878.87)

I see, how much more effective would the 780 be compared to the 760?

Does the Clock Speed/VRAM heavily affect the performance? I know that I'll be getting at least 3GB of VRAM, but if Clock Speed has a big impact, would it be better to wait for the GTX980 (Rumored 1051MHZ Core Clock)? Or will that be sorta overkill?
