What do you guys think of Splinter Cell franchise. I have played it since the first one came out and I love every one of them :). I really hope they keep doing what they have been doing so far.

What do you think about the last 2 parts? Conviction and Blacklist.

I pesonally didnt like Conviction as much as the other parts but still it wasn't bad. Blacklist was a lot better. But I will never forget the original first Splinter cell, Pandora Tomorow and Chaos Theory. Those 3 were the best ones ever :D. And I like how the story progresses from one part to another. They re really doing a great job with Sam Fisher :)

Last two were terrible. The originals though, fantastic.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

well i only played since double agent but i loved every one of them. although double agent seemed to be a little to short and i hate that blacklist has no lan mode for coop but conviction is one of my all time favorites my buddy and i still regularly (like once or twice a year) play splinter cell because of its great coop.

I have every one of them. It's my all time favorite franchise and the best stealth games imo. I like every game in the series for different reasons.

The first one because it introduced the series and this great character and some interesting mechanics.

Pandora Tomorrow improved on it a lot, moved outdoors a bit more and had more interesting locals and a great story as well.

Chaos Theory was just great, with some of the greatest visuals that still hold up imo and a very refined gameplay.

Double Agent is where it started to loose popularity with some of the hardcore fans but I liked it a lot. I liked the direction that it took, it really renewed itself, stayed fresh with the whole NSA-JBA balance and multiple endings, there were some great setpieces and levels, something that I felt was lacking in the third game.

Conviction is where shit hit the fan. I'm sad that a lot of people turned away from the franchise because of it. But the story was so good that I just can't fault the game for that. It was an action focused stealth game, sure. It was faster and was more rough when it came to stealth. But the cover mechanics were so tight and everything made sense in regard to the story. And there hadn't been a SC game for 4-5 years by then so I was looking forward to it a lot. And I knew what I was getting, I didn't expect it to be a refined hard-core stealth game. And I was fine with that. I really don't understand why so many people hate it so much.

Blacklist was the pinnacle of stealth games. I think it's even better than Chaos Theory. Yes, I said it. The levels are big, there are lots of outdoor locations, lots of interesting locations (the billionaire's yacht is probably my favorite level of all time) and a really good stealth system. It combined Chaos Theory's stealth system with Conviction's action and faster pace. I play the game mostly on Perfectionist with Ghost playstyle and it's sufficiently hard. It came to the point where I don't think a slow paced stealth game like Chaos Theory could be a viable game today because Blacklist shown that you can do stealth faster. It's more evasion based and not like that silly system in CT and the oldschool games where if you hide in the shadows the enemy won't see you even if he's right in front of you. Here you will be seen if the enemy comes too close. And you have so many gadgets and weapons even for a full non-lethal playthrough, you have so many options that I just love the game. And you also have loads of different routes to take in the levels. The only thing that I just hate is the FPS section which was godawful. And the ending was a bit anticlimactic. And where was Megiddo???

TL;DR - I love them all, and my favorite is Blacklist.

They are great. Conviction lost its way a little bit but the scratched their original plan for it and started from almost scratch again so it was a troubled development. They bounced back from it with black list and u see splinter cell still being a major stealth contender for years to come

First and foremost i love the Splinter Cell franchise, I have played all of the splinter cell games and i honestly have to say that Chaos Theory is my personal favourite, it just has great mechanics and ultimately appeals to me more. I enjoyed the sound and light bars which aided my stealthing and the music was great too. The atmosphere was also fantastic and i missed the good old thermal and EMF vision on the goggles, i'm not sure if Blacklist put them back in but i do know that i didn't like Conviction's implementation of it. So far though i have to say I like Chaos theory the most then perhaps blacklist, then double agent, pandora tomorrow and the original splinter cell, conviction would probably have to be last it wasn't stealth it was more assassin's creed in a way.

I think they should've at least kept the sound bar to let us know if we're making too much noise in Blacklist, it's hard to tell sometimes, though i am glad Sam learnt how to whistle again from Conviction.  I do like the customisation of your loadout in blacklist adding some RPG like elements to it which is welcome and allows everyone to play the game to their style. The game obviously rewards and favours the ghost playstyle as it rewards the most points to that playstyle but at least it still caters to the people who prefer to go in guns ablazing.

I would love to pick up chaos theory for steam if it ever goes on sale, would love to coop that with a friend, i never actually played the coop campaign in that game.

this times a billion

You had to be quick on your feet in Blacklist (in other words, think fast). THAT really felt like you were a special agent. Everything else felt like a video game - watch patrols walk over and over and over in a loop to find the path through. Everything else is just a glorified game of snake.

I LOVED Blacklist. The presentation was awesome and made you feel awesome playing Sam Fisher, while still feeling like you're a step behind the villain. Sure it waned towards the end, but it was still great in an action movie sort of way

it wasn't perfect, but it felt like a TRUE evolution of the stealth genre
