I recently bought a MX279H and I didn't notice such a big difference comming from a ASUS VE247H. This seems weird, since the MX279H is twice as expensive and is an IPS. Apart from the screen size, I didn't notice much. I changed some settings, since I didn't like the default ones, and it does look better now, but I expected a lot more from all this "IPS looks sooo good" thing.

Is the MX279H just not good, or is there really not such a big difference?

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times; IPS panels are overrated.

Do you think I should return it and get a 144hz 27" screen instead?

If it's exclusively for fps gaming at a desk, sure.

I use it a bit for everything.. Gaming, browsing the web, watching movies..

Is there a way to display the same image on two monitors at the same time? I wanted to put both my monitors side by side and see if it is a big difference.

EDIT: Which one do you recommend then?

For Movies and looking from different angles IPS panels are better.

Just go in to your resolution settings, and duplicate one monitor.

I mean with cables and stuff, I have a desktop, and I use HDMI. Where should I connect my second monitor?

Displayport, DVI?

Thanks. And what display do you recommend? (I'm more like a casual player, and 60hz is fine for me. I'm getting a R9 290X, so maybe 1440p would be better, over 144hz)

with a 290x i'd go 1440p for sure.

Really depends on your budget though, 1440p monitors are still pretty expensive.

Are TN 1440p monitors cheaper than IPS ones? I was getting the PQ278Q (1440p IPS - almost 500€), but I changed my mind and went with a 1080p (300€) because I wouldn't be able to play on 1440p very long until I had to turn the graphics down.

So yeah, what do you think? 1440p IPS, 1440P TN, 1080P IPS or 1080 TN?

At 1440p the colors of the IPS might be better.

IMO 1440P IPS
