So, I've done a little research on how vram works and how the memory bus relates to it but would like a little more understanding...

It is often said that 3GB of vram is not enough for certain titles that have high res textures, especially at higher resolutions (1440p, 1600p+). My question is that if the memory speed is clocked fast enough would it help with this limitation or not? I ask because I will soon have my ASUS PG278Q (ROG SWIFT) monitor and my x2 ASUS GTX 780TI's memory can overclock like crazy. I've had it up to 8.4ghz before I started noticing some flickering but turning it down to 8.2ghz it seems perfectly stable. Would it help to run them with the memory that high or is that not really going to do much?

Other things to note, the core doesn't seem to OC well but I knew that going in. I can get it to about 1058 before artificating occur - even with memory at stock 7ghz.

You won't be able to increase the memory clock on a GPU much, and nowhere near enough to make up for that shortfall in shear vram amount, for such high resolutions.

Thanks for the input so far, it seems as if 1440p will be plenty fine with 3GB. Just curious if running the memory at 8.2ghz is worth it or not. Sure its free performance but if it isn't going to be anything noticeable then it would be pointless stress on the card.
