Im having a problem where steam will download something and the download completes instantaneously but then continues to take hours to actually "write to disk" as it says, I have a western Digital 1tb Black harddrive in my computer, is there a reason its taking hours to write 28mb worth of downloads? I really dont understand why its doing this.

I'm really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing with the WD Black.

I would maybe try a different SATA port on the mobo, this may cause slow write/read speed.

If after changing the ports the speed is still that bad, the first thing I would do is back up all important data on the drive and test it with Data LifeGuard Diagnostics (DLG): http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=810

It will let you determine if the problem is with the HDD. If the DLG software fails at any point of the Quick and Extended test (run both of them just to be sure) most probably your drive is failing.

And I'd suggest to contact our tech support for further assistance: http://support.wdc.com/contact/contact.asp?lang=en

Keep me posted about the test results though!

Good luck!

I hope I can help with any storage issues that you may have!  ;)
