Or the 780 if you want to be able to play any game that requires PhysX like borderlands or mass effect.

the 770 and 290 cost pretty much the same, tbh physx isn't that needed anymore

Again, there are games (borderlands and mass effect 3 specifically that I know of) that can't be run on AMD cards without some kind of workaround so *shrugs* it's up to the op whether or not the 5fps increase he will get is worth it. Assuming he has a 144hz 1080p monitor to begin with. If he has a 60hz setup like me, than both are sort of overkill anyways

I've heard someone mention borderlands in conjunction with PhysX. But I know for a fact that I was unable to run Mass Effect 3 on my APU when I had it. Technically it met the specifications to run ME3, but without PhysX the game refused to launch, stating that reason.

What I don't get is why AMD doesn't support PhysX, it's kinda stupid to have this divide.

Edit: Also, totally willing to admit my next card will be an AMD (if I don't wait too long) so I can get dat free star citizen yo. Fuck mass effect 3 anyways, all that heartache over that series for an absolutely shit ending.
