MSI Ref 290x tick

I bought one of the first waves of the R9 290x (yeah i know, not the best call) and it has been working well for me all this time. But i have noticed recently the fan on it is almost unbalanced or something, and on small loads it will start ticking and its rather annoying. At higher loads it seems to smooth out and i hear nothing.

 

Any way to figure out the root and fix it?

Bump? Any ideas on how to rebalance an AMD Blower style fan?

See if MSI will let you RMA it, it should have like a 1-3 year warranty?
 

If not watercool it with a kraken G10.

Throw it away

 

I have a 290, the first reference ones, the fan started to tick as well and it got on my nerves with the time, i went full derp and strapped a G10 and H110 

 

Best decision of my life

 

Trying to avoid that option, water cooling is kinda pricy. If i were to do it id likely end up doing a loop with a 220x and an EK blok rather than a g10 setup.

Only downside is im leaving the country for a month at the end of the week... hopefully i can get it sent off before then.

Maybe, i really dont want to have a gfx card sitting in my apartment office for a month... likely with an xbone+destiny there too...

What I mean is have them delay shipping it back to you until you're back from leaving the country
