Okay, so I just built a new rig for a family member and for their Hard Drive they got a Western Digital 250GB (I'm really unsure of the specific model.) The motherboard I am using is an MSI A55M-E33 FM2+. I mounted the hard drive in the case, plugged the sata and power cables in and when I booted in to the bios, it would not show up. I am fortunate enough to have the Intel equivalent board in another rig (With an LGA 1150 socket instead of FM2+) and that board couldn't detect it either. I then put the hard drive in my personal rig (Using a Biostar A960D+) and it works well with no issues. Any ideas of what might be wrong? :)

Hi there,

Did you check if the drive is enabled in BIOS?

Is your WD drive SATA II or SATA III? Because both motherboards (MSI A55M-E33 and Biostar A960D+) have SATA II connectors and if the hard drive is SATA III one, you may need to set the drive to the slower speed of 1.5 Gbit/sec in order for the system to recognize it properly.

Let me know if this helps.
