So over the next few months I'll be slowly upgrading my AMD setup to a newer, shinier Intel system and I'm pretty excited about it. I've already purchased the peripherals for the system, so overall, upgrading the guts should be relatively inexpensive (compared to buying all new peripherals with the system, that is)

Here's the system I'm looking into, feel free to let me know if any parts could be substituted for better parts, I'm entirely open to suggestions.

CPU: Intel i5-4690K

Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61

Mobo: Asus Maximus VII HERO

RAM: Kingston Fury DDR3-1600 2x(2x4GB) = 16GB

HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Blue

SSD: Samsung 840 EVo 120GB

GPU(s): (Still unsettled) - Likely GTX770 SLI

Case: Corsair 750D Full Tower

PSU: Corsair AX760 (Possibly AX850?)

Also, the estimated wattage of the build is 676W, and I am planning on overclocking, should upgrade the 760 to an AX850 just to be safe? Or is the 75W buffer sufficient?

Corsair 750D | AX 760 | Maximus VI Hero | i5 4690k | H100i | GTX-970 | 16GB HyperX Fury | 1TB WD Blue | 120GB 840 EVO

Go AMD for GPU ( they are cheaper ) An equivalent of a 770 would be an r9 280x (which is usually cheaper in most countires)

And yes you should upgrade your PSU (PSU doesnt spew out 100% of their estimated wattage) just to be safe.

The BBQ: i7-4770 / 212x / Tri-X R9 290x 1075/1400 / MSI H87-G43 GAMING / EVGA G2 850W / Corsair Spec 03 / Samsung 840 EVO 250gb SSD / Toshiba 2TB HDD / 8gb Kingston DDR3 1600mhz

Peripherals: G710+ / G502 / Bose Companion 2 Series III / Audio Technica ATH-M40x / Sound Magic E50

Monitors: Dell U2414H

Alright, I wasn't sure if i would run into issues with running an Intel CPU and AMD GPUs.

And I'll definitely get an 860W PSU just to future proof for any possible expansion later on.

Question relating to SLI/Single GPU setups, would I be better off getting something like a single, higher rated GPU over 2 290's or something along those lines?

I am currently running an i5 4440 with a r9 290x and nope no issues! :D

I would suggest the evga g2 850 watts 80+gold fully moldular PSU (Mine is currently shipping while i have to stick to my crappy g600w :( )

Yes you would be better off with a single higher end GPU but SLI/crossfire is not as buggy as what other's would say, they are only probably buggy in like 5% of the games out there now (which you probably wont even touch)

well 2 290's is more performance then one 780ti for about the same price so.
